Test Guide

Follow these steps to install PinShot Pro via TestFlight and explore its key features.

Install TestFlight & Download the App

TestFlight is Apple's official testing platform. You'll need it installed before downloading PinShot Pro.

Download TestFlight from the App Store

Open the App Store and search for "TestFlight". Download and install the app published by Apple.

Tap the invitation link

Open the invitation link you received on your iPhone or iPad. Your browser will redirect you to TestFlight automatically.

Install PinShot Pro

Tap "Install" in TestFlight. The app will be on your device within a few seconds.

Launch the App for the First Time

Tap the PinShot Pro icon on your home screen.

On first launch you'll see three short onboarding screens:

  • Scout — Save great locations
  • Save — Document with photos, notes & tags
  • Return — Come back in the right light

Swipe left to advance, or tap "Skip" in the top right. On the last screen, tap "Start Scouting" to go directly to the map.

Permissions

Permission Why it's needed
Location To automatically capture GPS coordinates when you add a pin
Camera To take a photo to attach to a pin
Photos To pick a photo from your gallery

We recommend allowing all permissions — especially Location, which is required to record coordinates.

Map Screen

The map is the first screen you see when the app opens. From here:

  • See all your saved pins on the map
  • Pins cluster automatically — tap a cluster to zoom in
  • Tap the + button (bottom right) to add a new pin
  • Tap the target icon (bottom left) to jump to your current location

Add a New Pin

  1. Tap the large + button in the bottom right of the map screen
  2. Enter a Location name (e.g. "Rijksmuseum Reflections")
  3. GPS coordinates are captured automatically — tap the refresh icon to update them
  4. Tap the photo area to take a photo or pick one from your gallery
  5. Choose a Lighting condition: Golden hour, Blue hour, Overcast…
  6. Choose Weather: Sunny, Cloudy, Rainy…
  7. Add notes about the best season or time of day
  8. Add tags: #golden-hour, #urban, #landscape
  9. Tap the checkmark icon in the top right to save

Pin List

Switch to the "Pins" tab in the bottom navigation. From here:

  • Browse all your saved pins sorted by date
  • Search by name or address using the search bar
  • Filter pins by tag using the tag filter bar
  • Tap any pin to view its full details
  • From the detail screen, tap the navigate icon to get directions to that location

Folders

Organize your pins into folders by project, city, or trip.

  1. On the Pins screen, tap the folder icon in the top right
  2. Tap + to create a new folder
  3. To assign a pin to a folder: open any pin → tap "Move to Folder"

Import Demo Location Packs

Want to explore the app right away? Download two ready-made packs of real photography locations in Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

Step 1 — Download the files

Open these links on your iPhone using Safari and save with "Download":

Files with .pinshot extension are saved to the Files app on your iPhone.

Step 2 — Import

  1. In PinShot Pro, go to Pins → tap the folder icon (top right)
  2. Tap the import icon in the top right of the folders screen
  3. Select the .pinshot file you downloaded
  4. The folder and all its pins appear within a few seconds

You can import both packs separately. Once imported, you'll see all locations on the map and can browse their notes, tags, and reference photos.

Export & Share Folders

Share any of your own folders with other photographers:

  1. On the Folders screen, tap the share icon next to a folder
  2. On the Export Pins screen, select which pins to include
  3. Tap Export
  4. Choose how to send it: AirDrop, email, or any other sharing method
